Special Interests

I'm especially interested in: Computers, Digital Video and photography, Diving, Gardening, Shooting (Air-rifle), skiing and Travelling. Other interests are: Motor-cycling,  Jogging   and Holidays. ;-)

Computers

I've started in 1966 with these machines because of my profession. My job was (now retiered); System Engineer on IBM-mainframes with OS/390 as the Operating system.geek

I also work with PC's in my spare time. Most people known already that you can do a lot of things with these machines, varying of text-writing, Digital Video, music, till playing games. Installation and implementation of (System)Software keeps me busy, such as multi boot and defining VM (Virtual Machines) running at the same time under one OS.

Also has "home-made-PC's" my interests, because you can reduce the price by defining and choosing your own components to build a PC.

Having a PC has also a dark site, look what happened if I "scan" my hard disk. Enter
For whom who has less understanding of computers, look for some details.

It also looks like that this phenomenon is not so "well" for the human being.  look at

And there will be a revenge sometime!  look at.
A lot of communication go's via World Wide Web, look how use full that can be.

Digital Video

One of my favorite hobby is Video filming. The first movie-pictures have been taken almost 40 years ago with an "Single 8" camera. Totally 2.5 minutes could be taken on those tapes. Almost all are now copied to Video (VHS-C) and via DV to DVD. Most of them have been done at homeGR-dvm5and sometimes externally. I've started in 1991 with a Video-camera (VHS-C) and have used this one for many pleasant video hours.

In 1998 I've started with DV-Video and choose a JVC GR-DVM5 to start with,  because of the fast technical development, this one is almost "obsolete", but it is working well for my purposes.

Since September 2000 I'm capable to load the DV-movies directly into my PC via an "low budget" PCI-card.

Motor-cycling

I can't give you some explanation for this passion,You have or you haven't it!

It's one of my favorite hobby's for a long time, it never came into my mind to get a Car-license first on my 18e birthday. Motor-license was the first one to start with.

Anyway, I took 3 lesson's a fl.7,- and did the test, while the BMW R60 was waiting.

After a while a lot of things went wrong on this machine, so I was looking for a good  replacement of the BMW, even on the last trip, the BMW surprised me with some broken parts on a ride to the dealer for replacement. I've discovered some problems (Just waiting to cross a railroad) the Piston broke down. Anyway, I have spent more money to change this bike!

The Ducati that's it, within those days, one of the "fastest" 177km/u for a 250cc, no speed limits, no decibel-limits and delivered with an "race-exhaust". Sometimes I'll put this one on the machine and the kids in the street put therefingers in there ears if I drive away! One time, I was stopped by a Police-car, driving on the highway with this exhaust.  They told me "It is allowed to go on but stay on the Highway please"!...

Look for a picture of that fabulous Ducati Here.

I stopped for a while, military duty and a wedding defined some other priorities. After a while I started again with some "old and simple stuff",  and I have dreamed of more comfortable bikes.

At this time the use is mostly for fun and holiday's.

Jogging

Started in 1980 with this activity,20Km Brusseljust for fun and not running fast, no world records I mean.

The idea behind this is to keep a reasonable condition as a major basis for good health and well-being and, of course, a lower heart rate with some 20 p/m (welcome for the shooting part in those day's) With this activity I will stay in a "save zone" for my weight and give's me the opportunity to keep the old  eat/drink patron what I was used to.

My "fastest" time on a half Marathon, (1982) organized by Centraal Beheer in Apeldoorn, was 1.31 hr. Also one of my colleagues made it "happened" to ran in Brussel (1989) some 20km, within 1.36 hr.
